NHS England has been told it needs to find £22bn in efficiency savings by 2020-21. To do this, there are proposed ward closures, cuts in bed numbers and changes to A&E and GP care in 44 areas. For GP services, this means a proposed reduction in face-to-face appointments with your GP. The GP-patient relationship is key to Primary care, and we believe that while telephone and Skype consultations have their place, you should always be able to see your doctor in person.
